It happens to the best of us, often at the most inopportune time. Yes, the dreaded acute low back pain flare-up. Sharp pain in the low back with specific movement.
It could happen after a seemingly trivial event as a sneeze or picking up a piece of paper.
Or it could be the day after a bad night's sleep after lifting heavy or after lifting a couch while moving.
However it happened, you are in a significant amount of low back pain. You can't sit, stand, walk, bend over, roll over in bed, or take off your shoes. Even sitting on the toilet hurts.
If you cannot do anything, then what do you do? Hope for quick, spontaneous resolution? Push through the pain?
I've been there, and it is no fun. We get into this downward spiral of worry, anxiety, and hopelessness. So what do you do?
If you've already worked with us, you've definitely scheduled a Physio Eval, right?? (If not, here's the link to our scheduling page). But what can you do between now and then to get some relief?
Well, here's a little bit of hope. Yes, your low back pain will get better. Yes, you can do some stretches and exercises to help decrease the pain. The video on this page explains what I did when I was stuck in bed, couldn't move from sit to standing, and couldn't roll over in bed without excruciating pain.
It seems simple and might go against some of the standard advice for low back pain, but this is what worked for me and I hope that it helps for you.
